Q-switched lasers are non-invasive lasers which utilises extremely short pulses of energy to target pigments in the skin. This technology differs from non Q-switched lasers as it limits the buildup of heat in the tissues for safe, fast and effective treatment.
The Q-switched laser is primarily used for treatment of skin pigmentation, often resulting from prolonged UV exposure or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne. The laser targets the melanin in the skin and the high energies cause a shattering of the molecule. It is later reabsorbed into the body. As a secondary effect, the laser can help to boost the production of collagen in the skin which helps in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
Q-Switched laser treatments may cause some initial redness which typically fades within a few hours. Most clients see an immediate improvement in their skin, with increased results over time as the skin produces more collagen as a result of the treatment.
We recommend a course of 4 to 6 Q-Switch facial treatments, with intervals of between 2 and 5 weeks between each treatment to deliver the best results. Each client’s skin responds differently over time.
